Boron Nitride in Glass Production

Sintered Boron Nitride HeBoSint® components and HeBoCoat® coatings play a crucial role in the manufacturing of flat glass pieces where their properties are key.

For instance, in the automotive sector, fibreglass or steel mesh is used to shape the windshields of vehicles. In this high-temperature process, the lubrication and non-wetting properties of Boron Nitride are essential to prevent the hot glass and frit (the black pattern found at the edges of windows) from sticking or adhering to the tool.

That’s why the HeBoSint® and HeBoCoat® product range in various formats (solution, spray, or wax) is used in the industry to enhance lubrication and demolding. Furthermore, the high-temperature resistance and inert nature of Boron Nitride make them ideal solutions for glass processing.
