Boron Nitride in Aluminium Extrusion
During the extrusion process, aluminium bars are transformed under high pressure at temperatures of 450°C into a variety of profiles.
These working temperatures present specific challenges, particularly the aluminium’s tendency to adhere to the press and other working surfaces. Additionally, most release agents and lubricants break down at these temperatures, reducing their effectiveness.
By replacing traditionally used products with Boron Nitride-based products, it is possible to eliminate surface defects that would otherwise occur.
The result is optimised release and lubrication performance, even at high temperatures.
Electrostatically charged Boron Nitride – HeBoFill® can be sprayed as a powder and easily incorporated into existing production processes. Liquid suspensions of Boron Nitride – HeBoCoat® can also be supplied for certain applications.
These Boron Nitride products are particularly suitable for:
- Lubrication and coating of pressure blocks.
- Coating of tools and tool surfaces.
- Lubrication of guillotine blades.
HeBoCoat® – Boron Nitride Coatings in Aluminum Extrusion
Boron Nitride coatings – HeBoCoat® are available in water-based and ethanol-based formulations, thus meeting specific customer needs.
As each application in aluminium extrusion requires coatings with different performance characteristics, we offer three lines with specific properties:
- HeBoCoat® Power Line: The broadest line, featuring products in both water-based and ethanol-based formulations. Ideal when both non-stick and lubrication properties are needed.
- HeBoCoat® Expert Line: Specialised coating line for use in the most demanding situations. Available in a water-based formulation, this is the coating of choice when a more advanced solution is required.
- HeBoCoat® Spray Line: This is the Boron Nitride spray/aerosol coating used directly and easily. It allows for the easy application of non-stick and lubricating films without the need for additional equipment.
HeBoFill® – Boron Nitride Powder for Aluminium Extrusion
To facilitate lubrication, in addition to HeBoCoat® coatings, we also offer Boron Nitride powder that can be added to different base substrates.
Thanks to the wide range of applications where HeBoFill® Boron Nitride powder can be used, there are three product lines within this range:
- HeBoFill® Basic Line: The all-terrain line of Boron Nitride powder ensures easy integration into production along with good thermal and non-stick properties.
- HeBoFill® Lub Line: Specifically designed to enhance lubrication with its crystalline structure. It is the preferred choice for use with lubricants or greases.
- HeBoFill® Cool Line: The choice when you want to improve the thermal conductivity of the base material while maintaining its electrical insulation properties. Its use is directed towards sectors like electronics or electric vehicles due to the increasingly demanding thermal management needs of powerful electronic systems.
